Sunday 16th August:
Morning flight from Dublin to Calgary via Toronto with Air Canada. Arrive early evening local time and transfer by deluxe coach to Banff (1 hr 30 mins). Overnight at the Banff Ptarmigan Inn. B/L

Monday 17th August:
Morning Tour of Banff. Among the highlights, are visits to the “Hoodoos”, Surprise Corner and Tunnel Mountain Drive, which overlooks the Bow River Valley. This will include a stop at the Sulphur Mountain Gondola, where you ride to the summit for a breathtaking view of the Valley and snow-capped peaks. Continuing on to Lake Louise, you will tour through Yoho National Park, with it’s magnificent natural wonders like the Spiral Tunnels, the turquoise serene waters of Emerald Lake and a natural Rock Bridge spanning the Kicking Horse River. A stop for lunch will be made at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. You can revel in the breathtaking surroundings of the famous Lake Louise before travelling back to your hotel in Banff. Tuesday 18th August:
All aboard! We board our motor coach and transfer the short distance to the rail station. Check-in and board the Rocky Mountaineer for our rail “spectacular” to Kamloops. Breakfast and lunch will be served on board. The top-of-the-line Goldleaf Service give you comfortable seats in the all glass “dome”, while meals will be taken in the downstairs dining car. En route we travel via Yoho, Glacier National Parks and the famous Spiral Tunnels, numerous rivers and pass over high trestle bridges. On arrival in Kamloops you will be transferred to your hotel. Wednesday 19th August:
Travel from Kamloops to Vancouver on the Rocky Mountaineer, leaving Canada’s semi-arid desert, the interior of British Columbia. Breakfast and lunch will be served on board. During the day you will pass Hell’s Gate, the narrowest point of the Fraser Canyon, where millions of gallons of water rush through each minute. Before reaching the coastal city of Vancouver, we travel through the final range of mountains, The Pacific Coast Mountains. On arrival, transfer to the lovely Sutton Place Hotel, which will be our home for the next four nights. B/L

Thursday 20th August:
Morning tour of this beautiful city. Highlights include Chinatown, Old World Gastown, Stanley Park and Queen Elizabeth Park. Return to hotel mid-day. Afternoon and evening at leisure. B
Friday 21st August:
Transfer by coach to Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal for our boat ride to Swartz Bay, Vancouver Island, passing through Gulf Islands. Upon arrival at Swartz Bay, the tour will visit the world-renowned Butchart Gardens, with their 50-acre display of magnificent colour and floral arrangements. The tour continues on to downtown Victoria. Highlights en route include the Inner Harbour, Beacon Hill Park, the Parliament Buildings and the Fairmont Empress Hotel. When we reach Victoria’s Inner Harbour, you will have free time to explore and shop before taking the ferry back to Vancouver. Evening at leisure in Vancouver. B
Saturday 22nd August:
Full day free in Vancouver or take the optional tour (€ 240) on the Whistler Mountaineer Glacier Dome Train. Embark on this beautiful journey to the four-season resort of Whistler. Departing North Vancouver Rail Station, you will enjoy early morning views of downtown Vancouver and Stanley Park as you pass under the Lions Gate Bridge. After passing through the Horseshoe Bay Tunnel, the route follows the eastern shores of Howe Sound with the steeply rising Coast Mountains and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. As you near the town of Squamish, look out for the impressive cascade of Shannon Falls and the spectacular dome peak of Mount Garibaldi. Upon arrival in Whistler, enjoy time at leisure. Admission to the Blackcomb Whistler Gondola Ride is included. Later in the afternoon, board your private motorcoach and return to Vancouver. En route a stop will be made at Capilano Suspension Bridge. Evening at leisure. B |

Sunday 23rd August:
Morning free to do some shopping or explore Vancouver, or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll in Stanley Park. Afternoon transfer to Cruise Ship Terminal to check-in and board the 5-star Celebrity cruise ship –Mercury – for your Alaska Hubbard Glacier cruise. Sail at 1700. B/D
Monday 24th August:
Cruising at sea. Get to know the ship as you glide northwards. B/L/D
Tuesday 25th August:
Sitka, Alaska 1100-1900 (Tender to shore). This tranquil fishing village was once part of the expansive Tsarist Russian Empire. Gaze over Crescent Bay and catch a glimpse of the onion-domed Russian cathedral from high atop Castle Hill. Visit the Sitka National Heritage Park, the very spot the native Tlingits and Russian settlers fought to the bitter end. Ironically, the strife of the past has led to the creation of an eclectic community that reflects its Tlingit, Russian and American roots. B/L/D | |

Wednesday 26th August:
Hubbard Glacier is the one glacier in the world that does not move at glacial pace. Quite the opposite. In 1986 Hubbard Glacier – the largest tidewater glacier on the North American continent – moved an average of just under 5.5 feet per hour. Keep a watchful eye as you sail through Yakutat Bay, as you may be a witness to geological history. B/L/D |

Thursday 27th August:
Juneau, Alaska from 0730 to 2030. The capital of Alaska since 1900, Juneau is located in the south-eastern part of the state sheltered from the Pacific by a belt of islands 75 miles (120 km) wide. Surrounded by rock, ice, water and forest, Juneau is built on a small strip of land. The city is named after Joe Juneau, a gold miner who once wept because he had more gold than he could possibly spend in a lifetime. Step ashore and shop for gold nuggets, visit the stately Governor’s Mansion, saunter through the swing doors of the Red Dog Saloon, the city’s famous watering hole. Visit the mighty Mendenhall Glacier just outside town. B/L/D
Friday 28th August:
Ketchikan, Alaska from 1430 to 2030. Ketchikan is situated on Revillagigedo Island, part of the Alexander Archipelago in south-eastern Alaska, just at the southern border with Canada. Originally a fishing settlement and a supply centre for miners during the gold rush of the 1890s. B/L/D
Saturday 29th August:
At sea cruising the Inside Passage. This scenic waterway reaches 1,000 miles from beautiful British Columbia to historic Skagway, Alaska. Through the maze of bays, straits and fjords, you will cruise past an ever-changing panorama of unspoiled beauty. B/L/D
Sunday 30th August:
Arrive at Vancouver. Sadly our cruise comes to an end. We say farewell to “Mercury” mid-morning and transfer by coach to Vancouver Airport for the afternoon flight home (via Toronto). B/D
Monday 31st August:
Arrive Dublin Airport early morning.
